|Cyclone Debbie Affects Scout Groups in the North Coast Region|
Helping Scout Groups and Families Affected by the floods.
Due to the effects of Cyclone Debbie, six Scout Groups and their halls have been flood (or water) affected, to varying degrees.
Lismore, Chinderah, Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby, and Casino had experienced damage to their hall. Kyogle Scout Group does not have a hall, but they have had damage to their Group materials that were stored in the Council facility they share.
At this stage it appears the Lismore Scout Group has been most affected, with 15 inches of water through the hall.
Scouts NSW also has several families who have had extensive damage to their homes.
There have been a number of requests from Scout Members who want to help either through a donation of professional services or through a monetary donation.
One inspirational Scout, Claire, from 1st Balmoral Sea Scout Group ran a fund raising campaign last year to assist Scout Groups in need. Her trivia night raised $1862! While some of the funds were allocated to a grateful Scout Group last year, she decided to allocate the remaining amount of $931 to the flood affected Scout Groups in Far North Coast. What an inspiration Claire is to all of us!
