About Us

The Water Base has been situated at the Pointy end of the Point road Woolwich since 1973, ever since the Hunters Hill Sailing Club moved to Merrington Place Woolwich.

We are a NSW State Activity Centre reporting to NSW State office.

We have a fleet of Power boats, Sailing boats, Canoes & Kayaks which include five Corsairs, three Lasers, Capri, twenty three Canoes, six Kayaks, two 4.7 Meter Zodiacs, and two Tinny’s.

The base is staffed by volunteers of the Scout Association who are permanently attached to the base as well as many leaders from Groups all over Sydney. The staff are known as S.W.A.T (scout water activity team) are a group of highly qualified, & motivated people, who are dedicated to training the youth, & adult members of the Scout Association.

What we do:

  • General Days, showing everyone the time of their lives out on the greatest waterway in the world through one day experience in Sailing Power Boats & Canoes.
  • We run Courses in Sailing, Canoeing, & Power Boating at various levels.

There are General Boating days, every Sunday, while the water stays warm. During the cooler months, we have Harbour Keeper days on Clarke Island with the National Parks & Wild Life Service.

The SWASH is open to all members from Joeys, through to leaders; yes this also includes Venturer’s & Rovers. To avail your group of the all the SWASH has to offer, you just have to decide on what you want to do and contact us.
