Volunteers are always welcome at Scouts NSW. Whether you come as an individual or part of a corporate volunteer project, we always have plenty of useful and rewarding things for you to do.

Adults can help by:

  • Assisting with activities
  • Joining the Group Committee and/or assisting with administration
  • Helping to fundraise
  • Providing transport
  • Volunteering for duties such as Scout Hall set up
  • Helping with DIY jobs or gardening at the Scout Hall
  • Organising a Group excursion to their workplace
  • Assisting with food preparation
  • Offering their unique talents and skills for a Group theme night
  • Researching, preserving or interpreting historical records and artefacts at our Memorabilia Centre
  • Putting your skills to good use – accounting, administration, fundraising, research, carpentry, communications, etc

Volunteering for roles such as these helps to ‘free up’ the uniformed Leaders so they can focus on planning and running activities, and providing youth members with the best possible Scouting experience. It also gives the volunteers the opportunity to:

  • Encourage, mentor and empower young people to be their best
  • Contribute to their local community
  • Rediscover adventure
  • Involve the whole family in a new adventure together
  • Have fun
  • Challenge themselves
  • Get active
  • Learn new skills
  • Be appreciated
  • Meet people with similar values
  • Gain recognised Leadership and Management qualifications
  • Travel within Australia and overseas

You can find volunteer opportunities by contacting your local Scout Group or checking out the GoVolunteer website at govolunteer.com.au.
