The NSW Lones Scout Group, which began in 1915, offers Scouting to young people who want to participate in Scouting and who cannot get along to a regular Scout Group every week.
Members of Lones Venturer Scouts usually live in remote or isolated farms, small towns or islands – or they might be travelling around Australia or suffering from a chronic illness or disability. Generally, Lone Venturer Scouts must live at least 12 km from the nearest Scout Group with a Cub Scout Pack.
To be a Lone Venturer you must live at least 12 km from the nearest Scout Group with a Venturer Unit.
The Lones Scout Venturer Unit operates like a distance learning group with:
- Weekly programs
- Overnight and holiday Venturer meetings and activities.
As far as possible, activities are as similar to those of regular Units or Sections.
