Become a Rover Scout

Joining a Crew is easy to do!

Whether you are a Venturer Scout linking up to Rovers, or are between the ages of 18-25 and are new to Scouting altogether, becoming a Rover has never been easier!

Once you have found a Crew that suits you, you can officially become a Rover by completing a Rover Scout Membership Application (YA1).

This can be done via the button below, or by filling in the paper-based form here and handing it to your Crew Leader.

FAQs for Applicants

The Rover Scout Membership Application Form (YA1) is to be used for all Venturer Scouts linking to Rover Scouts and new Rover Scout Members. The YA1 is now available online and can be used as an alternate to the traditional paper-based YA1 Form.

If you are interested in joining Rovers the first thing you’ll need to do is find a Crew. You can do this by visiting the NSW Rovers website and using the Crew Finder.

Every Rover Crew is different, so we recommend visiting a few Crews first and finding one that suits you. Take some time to get to know the Crew members.

After you’ve decided which Rover Crew you would like to join, complete the YA1 Form.

While we recommend using the online version of the YA1, the paper-based form is still available and accepted. Rover Crews who are currently not on CareMonkey are required to use the paper-based YA1 Form.

After you submit your online YA1 Form, you will receive an email confirmation with a copy of your application. A copy will also be sent to your Region Office.

Your Rover Crew Leader in Charge (either your Crew Leader or Rover Advisor) will receive a separate email notification with a request to review your application. Once reviewed, your Leader in Charge will schedule a time with you to conduct an Introductory Interview.

If you have any questions about the Rover Scout Membership Application, or require support, please contact the Scouts NSW Member Services Department on (02) 9735 9000 or info@nsw.scouts.com.au between the office hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

We recommend using Google Chrome or Safari when completing online forms on the Scouts NSW website.
