On the 13th of August, Daniel Rotenstein of 3rd Rose Bay (Judean) Scout Group was presented with the Queen’s Scout Award, the highest youth achievement award in Scouting. The award was presented by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) at Government House Sydney. 

In his response, Daniel informed the audience how Scouting has helped him with confidence and personal growth, and how being consistently challenged enabled him to set and achieve goals. 

On Sunday 18 September, Daniel was honoured at a function held at a very packed Bondi Scout Hall.  Speakers spoke enthusiastically of Daniel’s achievements in studies, leadership, goal setting, personal growth and perseverance across all areas, including Scouting.  Representing the Scouts NSW Air Activity Centre, Leon Harris presented Daniel with a Certificate of Achievement.

-Gabrielle Upton, State MP for Vaucluse (also representing the Federal Member for Wentworth, Malcolm Turbull PM)

-Local Councillors Leon Goltsman (Waverley) and Greg Leventson (Woollahara)

-Bryan Davison, Regional Commissioner, South Metropolitan Region Scouts

-Peter Jamieson, Region Commissioner-Scouts, South Metropolitan Region

-Tom Wolf, Region Commissioner-International, South Metropolitan Scouts

-Ben Politzer, District Commissioner, Fairfax District Scouts

-Wesley Browne OAM, King’s Scout and Patron of 3rd Rose Bay (Judean)

-Leon Waxman, Group Leader of 3rd Rose Bay (Judean)

plus leaders of 3rd Rose Bay (Judean)

-Local spiritual leaders and Daniel’s School Principal Mr David Pitcairn of Reddam House also attended and spoke.

Daniel is also a member of the Scouts NSW Air Activity Centre, where he is currently training for his private pilot’s licence. With a keen interest in flying and aviation in general, Daniel’s goal is to join the RAAF.
