The objective of this work instruction is so that managers of different Scout buildings can identify potential areas where asbestos is of concern. It must be realised that this is a guide only and that a full comprehensive asbestos survey should only be carried out by a competent person.

This work instruction has been developed to ensure that the procedures for data collection, sample collection, photography and sample submission are implemented in accordance with the relevant standards and specifications and that associated documentation and records are processed in accordance with Scouts Australia requirements.

The work consists of upgrading existing scout halls to comply with the current requirements of the Building Code of Australia, on a prescriptive or performance basis as assessed by the Scout Association’s Building Code Consultant. Refer individual Fire Safety Reports.
