The requirements for carrying and wearing life jackets vary depending on the type of vessel being used. From January 1, 2021, all Australian life jackets on recreational boats will need to be approved to Australian Standard (AS) 4758 – AS4758. Life jackets must contain the Australian Standards number – AS4758 – printed somewhere on the jacket’s label.
