State Commissioner (Members Support)

The State Commissioner (Member Support) is the volunteer member responsible to the Assistant Chief Commissioner (ACC) Adults In Scouting (AIS) for leading the Members Support team and the cohort of Youth Safe Advocates, and supporting our members and supporters trained in Mental Health First Aid. The SC MS is focused on providing support to youth and adult members, as part of a broader culture of member wellbeing and satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include:

– Continuously building members’ understanding of the available support services
– Working with the salaried staff in the Child Protection Office to understand what trends indicate are the support services our members require, then ensure Members Support, Youth Safe Advocates and Mental Health First Aid volunteers are equipped to respond to these areas
– Creating an awareness of members who can support the broader membership by attending events, informing adult volunteers and creating interest in building the support team
– Promoting and developing the Youth Safe Advocate and Mental Health First Aid qualifications available for Scouts NSW members to achieve

This position is open to any member or supporter who has an associated area of expertise or interest and who believes they can make a positive difference to Scouting in NSW.
