2017 Adult Recognition Awards
Dear Members and Supporters,
World Scout Day marks the moment when Scouting began. An experimental camp held on Brownsea Island ignited this worldwide movement. Today, more than 28 million members enjoy a diverse range of activities delivered by enthusiastic volunteer leaders.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Members of Scouts NSW for your commitment to Scouting, whether it be as a uniformed member, supporter, or as a professional staff member. I recognise the sacrifices each of you makes.
It is also the day when we recognise those Adult Members who have received Adult Recognition Awards.
Thus, it is with great pleasure that I write to you today to congratulate the 343 Adult Members and Supporters of Scouts Australia (NSW Branch) who have been honoured by the Chief Scout of Australia, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) in the 2017 Adult Recognition Awards.
The recipients have been acknowledged for their good service and commitment to Scouting, both within and beyond their roles and responsibilities as active Leaders, Members or Supporters. The yearly awards are part of the Association’s observance of the founding of Scouting at the first Scout Camp held at Brownsea Island in the UK on 1 August 1907.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all recipients on their meritorious achievements, and thank them for their leadership and commitment to Scouting and the development of our youth members over the years.
