Two Assistant Chief Commissioners announced

As part of the reform work currently being undertaken, Scout NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of two Assistant Chief Commissioners who will work closely with Bel Howell, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Program, Youth Safety and Support). These appointments have been made following a widely promoted, three week recruitment exercise and a merit-based selection process.

Congratulations to Chris Buggie who is the new Assistant Chief Commissioner (Youth Program and Support).

Chris began his Scouting career as a Scout and moved into adult leadership roles once he finished Venturers. He’s been an active and valuable member of the NSW State uniformed team since 2015 and most recently has been Acting DCC (Youth Programs). Chris has been to numerous Australian Jamborees and Cuborees, he’s brought an experienced voice to many committees and working groups. Chris is a Youth Safe Advocate and was awarded the Silver Wattle in 2019. In his new position, Chris will be focused on the delivery of the Youth Program, the support his team can provide to the frontline, and how we can support the development and the positive Scouting experience of thousands of young people.

Congratulations to Dr Justine Douthwaite who is the new Assistant Chief Commissioner (Adults in Scouting).

Justine first came into Scouts as a Leader in Sydney North Region. She moved into the NSW State uniformed team in 2017 with a focus on issues management and she is a Youth Safe Advocate. Justine has most recently been the Acting DCC (Youth Safety, Compliance and Support), working closely with the uniformed and staff teams focused on youth safety, member support and issues management. Justine attended World Jamboree in 2015 and received a Meritorious Service Award in 2020. Justine’s team will be focused on the development, capabilities and support of our adult members in Scouts, and on inclusion in the Movement.
