Meet our Youth Safe Advocates – Mitch

Name: Mitchell Stubbs

Role in Scouts: Assistant State Commissioner - Scouts, Cub Leader and Rover

Day Job: Manager at KFC

Hobbies and Interests: Scouting, Kayaking, Canoeing, going to the movies and of course eating lots of food!

Favourite moment in Scouting: My favourite moment in scouting would have to be attending AJ2010 as a Scout!

What inspired you to work with youth members? I started in Cubs when I was 7 and I loved it and just kept going. When I turned 18 I knew that I wanted to give back to Scouting and make sure that so many young people had the same and if not better opportunities than what I had.

What key thing has a youth member said to you that has stayed with you? "Thank you for everything".

Why did you become a Youth Safe Advocate? I believe that it is so important that the members of our organisation have the right to feel safe and look out and speak up if they see something that is not right or worries them.

Why is the Youth Safe Advocate scheme important for Scouts NSW? YSAs are important to Scouts NSW because the more that we YSAs get out and attend events, the more people will know who we are and the more comfortable and safe we will feel. We cannot let the events that have happened in the past ever happen again.
